Odisha Cabinet approves 18 key proposals

  Retirement delight for Odisha Government Contractual employees

       Bhubaneswar, 2/11: Odisha Cabinet, presided by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, accorded its seal of approval of a proposal for amending the Odisha Civil Services Pension Rules that will benefit persons working in the state government on contractual basis.“With amendment in rules, employees working in the government on contractual basis will get pensions. Under the pension scheme, 10 percent will be deducted from the salary of a contractual employee towards pension; the government will contribute an equal amount towards the scheme,” said G C Pati chief secretary briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting here today.
Notably, a contractual government employee is entitled to have the pension system after six years of appointment when his job is regularized. But, the Finance Department’s proposal suggests implementation of the pension system at the time of appointment as a contractual government employee.
The state Cabinet today approved 18 proposals after discussions at a high level meeting held at the State Secretariat here on Monday.
As a major decision, the Cabinet has nodded for setting up of 2,601 godowns under the Co-operative department’s Warehouse Infrastructure Project.
Another major decision taken is that of acquisition of one lakh acres of government land for setting up of a Land Bank for massive industrialization in the state. IDCO has been entrusted with the important assignment to acquire land for the Land Bank.
Besides, a special cadre to be formed for the Municipality employees of the state. Amendments to the Odisha Town Planning Service Board 1970, the Odisha Excise Rule 2002, the Odisha Civil Services Rule 1992, etc. also received the Cabinet’s nod.
Prominent among other proposals, the Cabinet also gave its nod for setting up of Rural Self-employment Training Institute, regional committee office of NCTE and allotment of land for establishment of the branch of Maulana Azad Urdu University at Athagarh without premium.
